First proper hifi amp I bought was the Audiolab 8000a integrated amp in '85 I found that the sound and build quality was exceptional at the time and still works well now - the phono stage I thought (and still do) was very good. Much preferred the sound to my friend at the time's Naim Nait. Here's a picture of mine (currently in the garage) and still working with nothing ever done to it

In the age of the internet young lads will never know the joys of finding a previously rain soaked and dried out crumpled jazz mag discarded into a random hedgerow.
I mean what does the jazz mag fairy that used to leave these gifts do these days?

I mean what does the jazz mag fairy that used to leave these gifts do these days? I remember there would often be a whole selection stuffed into the bin at bus-stops. I suppose bus stops don't have bins anymore so that put a stop to that. The hedgerow finds would normally be torn out pages rather the whole mag. Obviously still better than nothing. They still sell grumble in the shops by me, no idea who still buys it. Anyway, yeah, Audiolab 8000A - good amp, goes well with vintage KEF and Celestions or any other 'warm sounding' speaker.

Mine were paired with some Heybrook HB1's at the time and worked brilliantly (the front end was a Michell Syncro, Linn Basik Plus and Linn K5 cart if I am not mistaken). Loved it (remind me why I upgraded and spent a fortune when this did a very good job.....??)

LOL - I remember going for walks as a kid and my Mum quickly shuffling us away when there were bits of naughty mags lying on the ground.

The 8000t was very highly regarded and scored quite highly on the FMTuner website. Must be 3 decades since I last look though a Jazz mag, probably razzler or readers housewife's.
