If anyone has any decent MM cartridges lying around they would like to sell let me know.
I am thinking of upgrading the AT95ex MM cartridge so it would have to be better than this!

You could try the VM95ML? Failing that, I can send you my modified VM95 with AT95SA to see if it is worth upgrading your stylus. I may have an AT150mlx lying around. It does not get used these days, but replacement ATN150mlx styli are difficult to get hold of.
There is also the Goldring E3 to look at. Cheap, and supposedly very good.

I see the At150mlx stylus are available but mega bucks now.

Yes, but the later styli still fit the body. It still sounds pretty good, but I have no idea how much life is left in it. The only other cartridge I have I would be willing to move on is my SAE1000LT. It’s an HOMC.

The other cartridge in the bake of was the
Shure M55e with Jico SAS stylus. This slaughtered all of them but the Acutex was very good. I will make enquiries?

I sold mine cheap lol They go for good money now (£220+) and indeed they were top of the range but the M55e was very close and would beat it with the Jico SAS. Wish I had not sold that cartridge now.

The M55e was I think quite similar to the V15 Mk111 I believe internally and had very similar characteristics so I may go down this route and look for the N55e stylus which will probably cost £100 all in.
Wait a minute - this looks interesting....

I've still got the M55E+JICO neoSAS stylus combo sitting in a snakewood body. It's currently living on my SME V-12 / 401 combo. It's got oodles of resolution but let down by my EAR 834 clone. I've got a V15 mk3 as well with the VN35E stylus, I prefer the M55E combo.

Here's my old warhorse that used to live on my Lenco L75 project. I've still got the Lenco but I've moved the M55E+Jico NeoSAS styluss + Snakewood Body onto my 401/SME V-12 project. I'm getting a lot more out of this combination now and the Stylus is probably worn in now. TBH the EAR 834 is probably the bottleneck. I'll probably end up assessing the EAR against my phonostage built into my Croft preamp. Maybe the EAR 834 might go up for sale?

Like I said I should not have sold my M55e +JICO SAS combination.

I've got the V15 mk 3 as well. I'd love to try this with a JICO neoSAS stylus but can't justify the expense. I'd love it if I could plonk my current stylus from the M55E into the V15 mk3, now that would be a cool thing!

Plenty of interesting opportunities there. Obviously it is a popular market. Maybe another project for the future.?

Shure used to offer some good cartridges. My M55E + Jico SAS was sold in preference for my Technics EPC-U205 with Jico Neo SAS. However, the Ultra 500 was based on the V15, so the V15 could be better?
