well might take a gamble and try some . would like some dyns but special 40 is 2.8k , the dali rubicon on special offer at 1399 but may well try the AR6 They look like a decent speaker for the money. Heard good things about their speakers. I'll try to get a listen to some at a show.

well some Ar6 arrived at hifinutt towers recently . they suggest 20 hours of running in so just coming up to that now . very light physically which is good. been playing at getting position right with slight toe in . Now its a very bright room and in the past i couldn`t get shl5plus to work but these Ar6 seem a tad smoother in the top end . pics to follow at some point . nicely made speakers and certainly good vfm at 950 pounds new delivered .

I am quite surprised by these . they are not as fiercly resolving as the shl5plus nor as BIG sounding as the taus [ surprise surprise !!] but i found the shl5plus hard to get on sometimes , So immediately these sound just right , not too forward , not too soft . they are very coherant with instruments well differentiated . playing electronica and classical and vocals is pretty good . I find them non fatiguing and they make you want to tap your toes . very musical and timbre of instruments is just right . I am rather impressed so far . they are not permanent speakers because saving for something else but you know what Alan has come up with a cracking bit of kit in the AR6 . wouldnt mind trying the AR8

Listening today to a very holographic electronic album called caveland which has huge echoey soundstage like being in caves . these modest sized standmounts give a remarkably big soundstage for their size that fills the room . i have found they sound a big better facing more forward with less toe in. Drums in particular seem to be very real sounding . Vocals may not have the incredible sense of immediacy of frugalhorns or other horns but its pretty respectable . In the you tube video the grills stick on the sides of the speakers when not in use but mine dont . I just keep them in situ as doesnt seem to make a lot of difference Alchris Ar 6 by , on Flickr pyramid-peak.bandcamp.com/album/caveland

Just playing with amps , the c5i as a pre had a lot of sparkle, clarity and realism but a bit too much really .then tried the modest a85 which was smoother but not as realistic . Hoping to pick up an analogue bel canto pre 5 this week to see if I can get that realism without too much treble . I must say they are certainly very good and exceptionally good with drums
