It's a fancy shunt regulator, very low noise, very low impedance. Similar to the shunt that's on the main pcb already, but could be used instead.
Pcb are slightly bigger than a ten pack of fags. Just another option for those interested in fiddling.

I have had the fancy transfer I ordered for my BB3 build delivered today. I have applied it and it looks fantastic. Nicely finished off now.

Looks great, is it just black on clear adhesive? If so where did you get it as it would look good on my Olive wood too?

It is a transfer process, so only the black is stuck to the front, so no clear carry sheet. looks and feels great.
It is 55 x 41 mm. It was £15, so £15 plus post.

The company goes under the monica Signomatic.co.uk, though they are based in Sweden under the name SignMax AB.

I used Signomatic for some badges on my DCB1, they are pretty good. Lots of choice.
Looks really good Alan.

Progress on the Paradise One, the one box build, it's finished apart from altering the EQ to flat, that will be done later. I worked out a different internal layout that kept the power supply cabling as short as possible. The two toroids are mounted on a steel L bracket and I played about with orientation to get next to zero hum. The finished position is as shown above. I have fitted a discrete power switch and Led to the front panel, so it now looks like this: Possibly the only one box Paradise? I am well pleased with the result in looks and performance. The remaining hum is below the level of the residual noise, so very quiet.

I shall try one of the transformer shields when they arrive. If it lowers the hum further I shall fit one, doubt I will need two with the orientation.

Nice challenge to see if you can make it work in one box Alan? Like it. I don't see why the 0.03% should have changed and it is silent at reasonably loud listening levels. I'd say I have cracked it.

Have you tweaked the trim pot on the Calvin's to zero out the output stage offset, itll have moved due to new thermal setup, different sinks on the calvins and obscured venting.
Probably only a couple of 0.1mv but it will have moved.

Following on from talks of thermal stability in the Paradise I have altered the thermal set-up. I have drilled extra ventilation holes in the bottom plate, around the shunt regulators. To keep the heat from the psu section away from the front end I have fitted a full width baffle. To finish off I have drilled extra vetilation holes in the top panel, on either side of the internal baffle. On test now to see if the sub 1mV offsets change over time.

A lot of ventilation holes being drilled on this forum. Nice thinking though Alan.

Works a treat, the front end stays cool and the offset is low.

There's still the sides to go at. You haven't touched them. Don't want them to feel left out. Do ya!?!
