I did this in my old house and it made an audible difference . A couple of years ago I got a new consumer unit fitted in this house and it also made an audible difference . Sorry , I can't explain it , it just did

I'm having a re-wire here in the next couple of months so have been reading up as to what is and isn't worth doing on the hi-fi side. separate run to the hi-fi, separate consumer unit and so on. On balance I don't think it is worth it. There's lot's of unsupported testimonials as to improved SQ and lots of science saying that there will be zero real effects. I know I don't have any SQ issues in any case since I've had awesome SQ with the wirings as they are so I know there isn't any 'barrier' there. I can understand going to all the effort and expense if you are getting interference from other equipment like lighting or refrigerators. Pops. clicks, static sounds and so on. Otherwise it would seem to be a waste of money and effort. Even then I still thought about it just as a 'peace of mind' thing since the extra effort willbe the sparky's and a few hundred on top of a couple of grand doesn't seem outrageous cost-wise. But I'll save the couple of hundred I think as it does all seem to be another audiophle fantasy. I'm sort of with you there. If I was rewiring and it wasn't overly expensive I would put in a separate circuit, just because. However, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't do much as I can hear a buzz in my amp if my wife uses her hair straighteners while the kit is on. As a test I moved the Lounge ring (it's on a separate circuit already (nowt to do with me) on to the other side of the CU to the bedroom ring. I then switched off everything in the house other than my wife's tongs and the hifi. Not the slightest scrap of difference but I didn't expect it due to the commoned neutrals.
Even with a separate CU there would still be that common connection even if the live is "separated" with the RCD/Fuse/RCB or whatever.... There would have to be something more fundamental than a "terminal block" connecting (or not) the neutrals together to have any sort of impact I'd imagine. Don't know what that kit would be though.
Just to reiterate this is my own mind considering what's in play and how it's connected, I am not an expert lol

I suspect that general noise on the mains can be just as polluting as fridges, cookers etc switching in and out. I notice a big improvement after 9pm at night when everyone else switches off their stuff and the noise floor drops.. Where I live now is very quiet in the evening anyway so ambient noise doesn't have much of a way to drop but when I lived in busier places the drop in neighbourhood background noise after 8 or 9 in the evening was quite obvious. Also the sensitivity of our hearing changes throughout the day, increasing as time goes on. I'd be more inclined to think that they were the reasons for the benefit you are experiencing. They've tested a few 'mains noise removers' on ASR, they've all done nothing to improve or even change the output of the equipment they are powering.

In my previous house when I had it rewired I went for a separate spur for my listening room and I did notice the noise floor drop so I would recommend.

Spacious....I had to wait to hear a particularly good recording via Radio 3 and when the Pioneer was behaving but then it showed even on this humble set up the layering of depth and imaging of performers in the soundstage is beguiling. It is not something I have experienced in any room I have set up systems in before. The acoustic space and placement of performers and instruments is another level - just being able to space the speakers away from the walls has allowed them to perform in a way I could never hear in a smaller room. Looking forward to getting the proper system up and running but....eeekk electrics, boiler , broadband and furniture moving is all happening together next week!! Think I will wait for the dust to settle before unboxing! Space a great thing.

oh well, can't have everything I suppose. Not much of an issue with stand mounts anyway. Plus those stands look massively solid.
What's the dimensions of the room?

I watch with interest. Not least because we are looking to move next spring. We like the thought of having more room/open plan malarkey! Of course my little Harbeths simply wont be big enough for a large room, would they ? I also would be very tempted to invest in some Townsend Podiums or bars given enough room. I’ve heard them at Angus’s place and very impressed. Not cheap, but then what is in life? Not enough room where we are now ... but definitely where you are now😉
