I have now cleaned out some old drivers and software that is no longer required. The result is a perfectly acceptable digital playback system.

Turbo mode disabled on my i7-6700k, which has brought the temperature down nicely. Much cheaper than buying an i7-6700T. Streaming Amazon Music HD and the CPU is ticking over around 26 degrees C. Happy days!

Two weeks, and two days on after a non-delivery, I am still waiting for a refund from BAX Shop. The parcel arrived back with them on Friday, and they asked me why I sent it back, and what I wanted to do….
I sent them a polite e-Mail asking them if they had looked in their system to see the history with the order. Well, today, I got another email (on a Sunday?) telling me I had to send them my IBAN if I wanted a refund, as they have no access to refund through PayPal. Reluctantly, I sent them the information, and asked if it was going to be another week before I got my refund.
I won’t be using them again…..

Anyway, back to the music. I had moments today where the digital sounded a bit flat. I thought it might be the USB card “burning in” but it varied from track to track. Some head scratching later, and I found out there was a volume normalisation, which was turned on (I reinstalled Amazon Music after removing drivers and software). I turned this off, and it is back to normal.
Yello - “Touch” sounds much excellent. Almost to a point where I wonder why we mess about with vinyl.

Yeah, been there then the Avalon went in and I remember why I thought digital wasn't brilliant...

Vinyl is still great, but digital is so convenient.

Vinyl is still great, but digital is so convenient. I know what you mean. Making digital listenable is the name of that game. It is here in the main, but I'm eyeing something up. Unfortunately i have to sell something first....

PayPal have issued a refund. You have to love their service when things go wrong.

Paypal are currently offering me a line of credit to 'spread the cost of black friday'.
Got to say I was never aware of me having any costs associated to black friday before. Not even sure when it is or how it's going to cost me money.

This is what Steely Dan say about it:
When Black Friday comes I'll stand down by the door And catch the grey men when they Dive from the fourteenth floor When Black Friday comes I'll collect everything I'm owed And before my friends find out I'll be on the road
When Black Friday falls You know it's got to be Don't let it fall on me
When Black Friday comes I'll fly down to Muswellbrook Gonna strike all the big red words From my little black book Gonna do just what I please Gonna wear no socks and shoes With nothing to do but feed All the kangaroos
When Black Friday comes I'll be on that hill You know I will
When Black Friday comes I'm gonna dig myself a hole Gonna lay down in it 'Til I satisfy my soul Gonna let the world pass by me The Archbishop's gonna sanctify me And if he don't come across I'm gonna let it roll
When Black Friday comes I'm gonna stake my claim I'll guess I'll change my name
I'm still none the wiser.

Black Friday is typically a Friday in winter, where these is a power cut and you hardly see any daylight.
But don't forget, all Fridays matter...

When I bought my speakers during the confinement, I was always bothered by a mark on the mid range driver of one of the speakers. Yesterday I received a marketing mail from Triangle, which I responded to saying the customer support was shocking, and I could not recommend them to anybody. To my surprise, I got a response asking me what the issue was, so I told them, and sent them a photo.
They are now sending me a new midrange driver. I guess persistence pays off.
Apparently they have changed their customer support team, and this one seems to be better. They could find no trace of my previous replies, so I am guessing they were deleted off the system. Anyway, hopefully a happy ending to this story will be able to be told soon.

The other conclusion I have arrived at over the weekend is that I definitely am stopping my search for a new DAC.

This is what the fuss was about. The triangular shape on my driver. It was there since new, and it annoyed me. Attachment DeletedFixed now.

Looks like I will have to break my personal challenge, as I may have to replace the RCA sockets on my BB3. One of them is a bit dodgy, as when I insert an RCA plug, the inner part moves.
Hopefully I have some spares…

I have not tried many RCA sockets to be honest, as I have not built much stuff.
