That was probably bottom of my list.... My thinking was there's no point getting a second deck that's similar to the one you already have. I mean an old Sondek from the 1970s, early 1980s, before all the upgrades made it sound like every other deck. The old ones had that 'propulsive' thing going on in the bass that just killed with rock music.

I agree, but something like an RP3, Lenco 75 was kind of where I was heading.

Systemdek IIX ?
I mostly only ever had Jap direct drives, that was the only belter I ever had but it was good. Better than a Rega 3 easily.

Price vs performance, you won't go wrong with a Lenco, I purchased one from 'VinylAnt' at BTE Designs, really does great work as you can see when you click on to the links at the top. In the photo on the page I link to, the turntable on the left, I'm proud to say is now mine, but with an Audiomods tonearm. bte-designs.weebly.com/Just thought, he may be a member on here?

The work that Anthony does looks impressive for sure. I do need to co sider a deck that tolerates foot fall though, as I have a suspended wooden floor, and building blocks underneath the rack is not an option, as my listening space is on the first floor.
I may need to change the feer on my rack from superspikes, to something else. It is not a concrete plan though, as if I change my pre, I will be back down to 1 phonostage.
In other news, my IsoPucks have arrived in France. I hope to try them at the weekend. It may be complicated, as I have ny first CV19 jab on Saturday.

I refused pain killers after my Motorbike crash because they wanted to inject it. Broken Thumb, Wrist, ankle and a free floating collar bone. I sat there completely adamant I wasn't having it To be fair, once my adrenaline ran out, I was a little more willing 🤣🤣

Mine lasted quite a while staying numb as I snapped the arm off the ball joint in my shoulder. I had already been to the hospital, and they sent me home with a temporary sling, as I had to go back the next day to see a specialist. Trying to sleep was a challenge when everything woke up. No pain killers were prescribed, so I ended up having a home visit from a doctor who brought pain killers with him.
They ended up taping my arm against my body, as they could not plaster it. Not the best place to break a bone...

The IsoPucks arrived today. There is definitely less bass going through the floor with them under the speakers. As a benefit, the bass is better defined, and the sound is less muddled.
Were they a good buy? Too early to tell. I am sure I could have done something similar for less, maybe....

That's pretty much the same result with the Podiums and Gaia and it can take some time to get the brain used to that presentation. I struggled to reconcile that here as I am so used to listening to the room interaction that it just sounded wrong without it. Habits can be broken though.

I have only listened to 3.5 tracks so far....
I am sure that they are doing the job they were designed for. I quite fancied some.podiums, but not the price tag.

It has been a while since I posted on here. I have been busy with enjoying myself outdoors whilst the weather has been good, spending time with friends and family.
I am sorry to say that HiFi spending is going to be put on the back burner for a while, as I think it is time to replace the car. It's 17 1/2 years old. I have had it 14 years. It is a said day, but there are a few jobs coming up that I don't fancy taking on (clutch and flywheel replacement) so it is best to get rid of it before they break....
I hope that the next car will be as reliable as this one has been.

Hope to be keeping it going a little bit longer though. Good luck with the next one.

Just spent £650 fixing all the issues our motor has developed, mainly due to being a diesel and not doing enough miles. The DPF was knackered etc, so paid a mate to fix it all. He owns a garage so he looks after me, but when it came back he said it's gonna need a whole new clutch etc. It's only 9yrs old but we had it nearly new and it's done a fair bit for us. I'll get that sorted, bit this time next year we're hoping to have a Mitsubishi PHEV.

I am going for a Superb Combi IV (PHEV). It seems to tick all of the right boxes.

Hadn't really settled on a particular model but the outlander is well lived by a mate of mine and having been in one a couple of times, I think there is little to grumble about. I'd get most of my journeys out of the 22 mile electric range, so other than the odd tip further, can't see an issue.

That is why I have just bought a Superb Combi IV. The battery range is enough to commute to and from work in EV mode. And it does 0-62mph in under 8 seconds. 🤣

Having had a job unloading new cars off the ship, I know electric ones go like sh_t, unless they are in 'new car mode' when you can only do 10-15mph Good to see you back Cagey, putting the hifi expenditure on the back burner is a good thing, allowing you to enjoy what you have now, and appreciating any future upgrades more

I am picking it up in 2 to 3 weeks, as I am off on holiday, and prefer the garage to look after it for me.
