What's the amp and source? I can see two silver cases but eyesight too poor and screen too small for me to make out any more.

They just do something I love. They aren’t the sort of thing I’d usually go for, but there’s something magical about them that I can’t really describe, they just keep me coming back fir more and I forget about the sound.

Then keep them! Even going over to the Orten could result in diminishing returns. But anyway I'm just guessing.

I’m pretty attached to them so I guess they will probably stay. Sometime I’d like a second Campion to run with my Spica’s.

I remember one of the mags liking Sonneteer, Hi Fi World I think. Never had a listen to any myself. Your whole system is so left field I can't imagine what it is like, it's all stuff I have never tried

Finally got them set up yesterday. Very pleased with then results.Silver Planets are nice but white would’ve been even better seeing as the sofas are white leather too.

Nice, looks very tidy. The room does look a tad bright for my taste. Lacks a little warmth to my eyes. Each to their own is king.

I do get what you mean though. Open plan and hard surfaces aren’t the most comfortable surroundings at times. I do miss carpets and soft furnishings but it’s just too hot to tolerate them. If you remember I had acoustic tiles on the walls, but I removed them when I sold. Because the Planets fire upwards, they don’t seem to need any acoustic damping. The ceiling slopes upwards to 14ft 6 so they seem to work well in the room.

I had a proper listening session in the living room with the Planets and Sonneteers today. This system was on another plane to the one it replaced.
I was running a Naim CD3, Myst Tma3 and modded Royd Minstrels beforehand. The sound in what is effectively a large, sparsely furnished concrete box with a 14fft 6 vaulted ceiling was awful. I managed to make it reasonable by adding lots of acoustic tiles to get rid of the echoes. When I sold the place, I removed the tiles and cleared out the hifi ready for moving. I hadn’t intended setting anything back up until my mate got me hooked on Planets.
The Planets and Sonneteers are sat in the same untreated room that was unlistenable and yet they are ten times better than the last system was with the acoustic treatments. The Sonneteers can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned. The Planets have now been tried in two very different rooms and have worked seamlessly in both. Neither Sonneteer, nor Duevel are on anyone’s radar. You never hear them mentioned on forums or in magazines. I only wish I was able to lug them to a hifi show because I just know they would be a big talking point.

I wonder if all the hard reflective surfaces are actually a help to the speaker, given their design? There's a member on AoS who has been using Planets for years, so you're not the only one out there

There's a member on AoS who has been using Planets for years, so you're not the only one out there I think you may have a great point there. The DIY Cubette variants I made also seem to love this type of room too. I’ll have to have a look at AoS and see if there’s more info on them.

IIRC I think the member is 'Jollyfix'. I have the opposite issue with my room in that I think it is a bit over-damped. I did originally have the listening end damped and the speaker end 'live', which is what the textbooks say you should do, but the accumulation of stuff at the speaker end has increased over the years. I'm fighting back (sold some guitars and other bits and pieces that were stowed there) but it's still far from ideal.

Thanks, Martin. I looked up his posts. I’ve tried looking on other Uk forums too. I’m a member of Steve Hoffman and Audiokarma too, so I will have a read there.

I look at them as much as I listen to them. Each gives me equal pleasure I feel like have purchased some installation art. Due to the impending move, most of my stuff is in storage and I only have a small number of discs, so I’m hoping to have a fuller opportunity to enjoy them in a larger and more private space post-move. Still love them though. Definitely not as conventionally capable as the Spicas (is anything?) but they offer a less “hifi” way of listening which I think is more “real” and natural. I can see people becoming acclimatised to their presentation and not being able to go back.

One speaker had a missing logo sticker and Markus Duevel kindly offered to send me one FOC. The first one went awol but he was kind enough to send me another. He actually sent a pair, so I have a spare! My life is now complete and perfectly symmetrical!

I listen every day. I don’t see me going back. The best thing is being able to listen anywhere. They sound great wherever you are. look like a million dollars too.

Audio Affair and Stone Audio stock them. Crossovers I saw pictured were simple although there are two incarnations ofbthe speaker. One with paper driver and two ports and the other with Kevlar driver and one.. never compared back to back but I believe the paper driver, twin port ones (older) sound better. They aren’t heavy. Peons 10 Kilos each.

Yes they seem as though even the lowest powered valve amps would do the job. I think I read 91db sensitivity
