Anybody have one lying around looking for a new home?

Sadly not.
I was always suspicious of third party styli and a Shure one I have here isn't the same as the original, but with a superb diamond better than an original imo. having said that, I have a Thakker EPO-E stylus (AT91 family fitting but superb elliptical tip and rattle free flip down stylus guard too) and it's a small step up from an original AT95E
The VM95's are too new for users to want to move them on, but good luck here. A Ton or so for a 'needle' is low rent these days it seems, but there you go.
How's the AT20SLa doing?

Curious to know how you might get on with it. I've got one with with a knackered stylus that I got with a Pioneer deck and been wondering if it was worth getting a stylus for it. You can get a Jico Shibata for £150 or a hyper elliptical for about £120. The top of the range was the ATN20SS which had a beryllium cantilever. Just had a bit of a search now and found Scott Nangle selling bit for about £120, which seems perhaps better value. You might find this interesting: sites.google.com/site/zevaudio/turt/cartridge-comparison-list/audio-technica-at20sla--at20ss

I don’t think that the ATN20SS that Scott is selling is an original one. It is probably a Jico.

Can't get original ones now. Not unless from a private seller. Beryllium stopped being used on health + safety and boron now used in place of it. I think there's one or two US (I think) sellers on eBay offering the AT15SS with a new spare original stylus. I've just lashed out £15 on a standard elliptical for mine.

I would be interested in a boron one, but Mr Nangle does not state what the cantilever material is. It is also the same price as the ATN20SLa.

I think I can say the Jico ellipticals are very good in terms of shape and finish (unable to take pics of such tiny things but I do have a decent microscope to see). Sometimes if the original stylus still has a decent suspension, it's possible to replace the diamond on the original cantilever. This takes skill and time and doesn't come cheap though (is a 20SLa worth retipping today when you can buy a 750SH for similar money with new high quality coils and so on?)
Good luck anyway with whatever transpires.

The AT20SLa I have bought is a lot less than the cost of the new AT cartridge. It is supposed to be in perfect working condition as well, so if there is any problem it will be going back, or a PayPal claim will go in for a new stylus.

Don't quite understand the pricing of Scott N's. The ATN 20SS - Shibata is £123. I can't see it having a boron cantilever. The ATN 20SLA - Standard Elliptical is £121. Why buy the elliptical when the Shibata is just £2 more? It seems there is the odd place that has NOS ATN 15SS; goldringstylus.com.au/shop/styli-record-needles/goldring-d830qd-stylusThey have genuine Audio Technica versions with berilyium cantilever for £124 all in. The other place I found were charging $260 US I think. If I was buying one I get from Goldring. Found an interesting thread. Haven't read it all: audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=88878.20
