My brother ordered a pair of these XLR cables which were received two days ago and I can only say WOW. I know they are not cheap but got them at approx. 40% discount making them a bargain. They really are see through cables, but with zero fatigue. Soundstage depth and bass have been the most obvious improvements in the casual listening done so far, but I would say everything has improved to my old ears. I know we were using RCA's before, but I've never been convinced balanced makes that much difference, so I'm putting the improvements down to the cable. Anyone else heard these cables? they were purchased solely on reviews and what we read on the internet.

The XLR was better in every way they measured, iirc. Congratulations on the cable. Enjoy! |

We use Townshend Seismic Bars under the speakers, they were certainly an improvement over Stillpoints and conventional spikes. |

Just a quick update, we are still in awe at how good this interconnect is. As well as improvements mentioned earlier, voices are so real, lyrics that were previously difficult to understand are now so much clearer, backing vocals the same. I never thought an interconnect would make this much difference.

Interconnects are so system dependant though. Would they do the same magic connecting vastly different boxes? I have an Audioquest cable that always seems to be the same regardless of what I use it with. But that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Although I've got interconnects I bought more recently, Klotz MC and Spotfire and I've not tried them with a vast range of kit like all I did with my old cables.

I have found that good interconnects make a difference in any system. How much of a difference does appear to depend on a few different things though.

I would agree with that, Autoquest cables now are really quite disappointing.

I preferred it to quite a few others. I loaned it and a bunch of other interconnects to a friend as he had read about cables changing the sound and wanted to see if he could get a cheap upgrade.
When I went to see him a month or so later he wanted to keep the Audioquest as he felt it was the best of the bunch. He had no idea of the price or even the make of any of them. he was a bit upset that I wouldn't sell it to him.

I wonder if it’s different tastes ir just the unpredictability of interconnects, but I tried Turquoise and thought it utterly dismal: really cloudy and muffled. I haven’t got on with a single AQ cable though. It wasn’t a cheap cable either IIRC. |

With interconnects who knows? According to the science they should always sound the same. They cost me a ton twenty years ago so £200 in today's money - yeah not cheap for 6 inch set of interconnect. That was back when I was trying to solve issues with interconnects and speaker cables instead of just getting better kit. Mine might’ve been longer but the RRP was £240 IIRC. Price is never a great indicator of sound though. I tried some Isoda recently and they were worse than the freebie ones you get with cheap jap stuff. |

Price doesn't mean much I agree. The freebie ones work and they are only slightly worse than the Audioquest or anything else costing proper money. Enough worse that I won't use them of course. The little differences still matter I think. And a lot of little differences can add up to an obviously better sound.

Well down their range admittedly, but even so for fifty odd quid they fall far short of what 50 notes gets you elsewhere. |

My brother's mono blocks have now been placed next to the speakers, meaning only a 1 metre length of speaker cable is now needed. He just had to try the Townshend Fractal, so a pair were ordered and received one week ago. Even from the first couple of notes of New Favourite by Alison Krauss & Union Station, one could hear the bass coming through with such vitality and depth, the cable was going to be a keeper. Again, soundstage has improved, deeper and easier to pick out who's were if this is on the recording.
