I have some speaker cable where I do perceive differences, at least sometimes and with some equipment = Chord Odyssey 2, NVA LS6, Cambridge Audio ribbon cable, (don't know what its official name is). All my other sets of cables - and regrettably there are lots - sound identical to me in all situations.
For what I have spent on speaker cable I could have a couple of Caribbean holidays (in the hurricane season when it's cheap, anyway). Do I think I wasted my money? Yes.
If I was starting again I'd just get a straight-forward high purity copper cable, 14AWG, with decent plugs, keep it forever, spend the money saved on better speakers.
