I honestly believe that a lot of box swapping is done unnecessarily due to other deciding factors..Again i have proven this in the past re buying gear i once got rid off only to use it in another way/combination..
I know in my head how i want my music to sound & how i will be most happy.. No matter what it takes & how unorthodox the means of doing so.. If i have to use Files to give me what i want so be it, if i have to use sound shaping tools to get me closer to my ideal so be it.. I like Physical music collections but if they aint giving me what i want im not interested..One thing i refuse to play the game with is Hi-Fi rule books. It may upset a lot but i see these people mostly getting nowhere, They say they are happy only to be selling something on before you know it which leads me back to what i was saying further up about Synergy..
Yes, I do too, and there are certainly guys out there that are buying without direction. Those are the guys I worry about. It's like they are trying to fix a problem they know exists but don't know where it exists. Like replacing the boiler for losing pressure when the real issue was a leak elsewhere.
From a much more personal perspective, the idea of a static system (no changes) is where I aim to be BUT there are just so many interesting pieces that I can't see me ever truly settling down. The difference now is that anything I do try, is around my existing system largely.
My latest foray is a journey into whether there is an argument for balanced vs unbalanced and yes, I sold a very tasty DCB1 to finance this BUT I am armed with the ability to build another and more than likely will do.
I love a bit of box swapping. Don't see why that's an issue for anyone lol, you should all try it.
