Before Tapestry this came along, a taste of the things to come. She is brilliant. This one say no more, just about drove my Pop to murder with this one. I was 11 going on 12 in late 62 then this came along. I had my first real crush her name was Linda Wilson the only girl with breasts in my class she used to tease the Sh#t out the boys. That crush did not last that long, the love for these guys has never died.

Not in Order:
Jose Gonzalez - Veneer
This album just blew my mind. I loved how he played and his laid back singing style. Completely unlike anything I had heard before.
Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Man-o-Man, imagine being an 11 year old kid, and finding this absolute gem in your dad's tape collection!
He had no love for GNR's but a mate of his had copied this for him. He played two minutes and 'filed it' he told me later in life. I was hooked. Immediately, like a smackhead on Heroin. I still listen to this album and it never got old.
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
Obviously not everyones cup of Tea, but I was about 14 when this came out and to hear something as raw as the area around me, I just couldn't get enough. I was listening to a lot of DnB and Jungle at the time but this and 2Pac's 2pacalypse Now album sent me on a Hip Hip journey.
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
I was late to the party for this as I was only 9yrs when it came out lol. I caught it after Definitly maybe dropped. The second Coming was a better album in terms of guitar playing but as a whole, the debut was epic
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Flawless. One album and one band unified a British music scene in the mid 90's. Started a musical evolution from bullshit synth music and inspired a new wave of guitar bands. These guys were as great to watch, as they were to listen too. 15yrs old, learning the guitar and these guys turn up. It was the beginning of the soundtrack to my youth.

Just a thought - very hard to think of anything post 2000. Maybe Fleet Foxes first. Adele 19 really is rather good. Also Lana Del Rey, Born to Die. Lack of good rock obvious.

Others have pretty much covered it but I'll put in another mention for Prefab Sprout "Swoon" and The Stone Roses first album.

Ive been thinking about this & there is a lot of bands i listen to where the debut albums are nowhere near as good as later ones. Example being Tangerine Dream 'Electronic Meditation' that does not have a patch on 'Phaedra' & 'Rubycon'. However i put that one down to technology at the time..
